Tony-Award Winner Lemon Andersen’s “County of Kings” will host a special one-night only performance this Sunday, December 11th at El Museo Del Barrio (1230 5th Avenue). This event is presented by the Hip-Hop Theater Festival (www.hhtf.org).

County of Kings gives a tough, yet poignant biographical account of a good kid growing up in an unforgiving environment. Lemon, whose parents met at a methadone clinic and passed away from AIDS, served two prison sentences before he was 21 and won a Tony before he turned 30. His on-stage memoir touches on young love, the birth of hip-hop, slinging crack, ballet, stealing car parts, prison, and poetry as he takes the audience on an astonishing and surprising one-man journey toward self-discovery. Weaving hard-edged drama with urban poetry, the Brooklyn born and bred performer tells his coming-of-age story with profound honesty, compassion and humor.

Mighty Crown is a Japanese Dancehall Reggae crew that’s celebrating their 20th year Anniversary this year. We just love how the Japanese are able to immerse themselves in so many different cultures. Anyways, this crew has already done collabs with Stussy and Nike and we really like what they did with this Clae connection.

The grey wool upper really looks fresh to us, and the piping and red accents are added icing on the cake.
These will be released in December 2011.

He’s also an avid fashionisto too with a penchant for more metro-sexual style – think Gucci loafers, extra-fitted Gucci leather jackets etc.
Apparently he also likes the ladies – his current squeeze is the hot European model Irina Shayk – isn’t it funny how these top athletes always end up with the hottest model girls?

We’ve been saying this for a minute, and every month, we feel we’re being proved right. It seems that we’ve really stepped into a new Golden era of rap music – there’s really so much good music and variety in hip-hop these days and we’re totally loving it.

Take Das Racist, a trio of Indian kids from Brooklyn who are taking art-hop to the next level. Even their name alone is an endless nexus of inside jokes, irony and self-deprecation. The truth is these kids don’t give a flying orgasm about what people think and their new video “Michael Jackson” (above) for their full-length official LP “Relax” proves that. It might even be considered sacrilegious in some parts – but the bottom line is that we like it and we think that you will too. Don’t forget to pick up their album too – it drops this Tuesday.

For some reason, looking at these sneakers make us remember that awful song that came out a couple of months ago – “Bottles and Rockin J’s” by the West Coast rapper known as “The Game.”

However these sneakers are pretty fresh (unlike the song) – the Black patent leather and the tan gum sole make these kicks just a joy to look at, and we can imagine that they’ll be really comfortable to wear too. We definitely see why there’s the word “Grown” in the shoe’s name, because these can be worn with fitted Dockers khakis and a crisp Margiela t-shirt with no problem at all.

On one hand, we’re digging the whole indie grunge-rock thing he’s working with the skinny jeans, unkempt beard, graphic-tee and pointy dress shoes, but the thing is this: we’ve seen Shia do the clean-cut, Steve McQueen/James Dean rebel look too – and we must admit, the latter look fits him much better.
What do all of out there in Internet land think? Are you liking this brooding & mysterious version of Shia?

We have to admit that we were a little disappointed with the recently-released Captain America flick – perhaps we went in expecting too much. However this collab and the entire design concept for this project is pretty cool. If you remember, the rapper Common was involved in the original promo release for this Diesel cologne, and now the baton has been passed to the Marvel hero with the red, blue and white shield.
How many of you out there are feeling this bottle design?
