In great fashion tradition, what was once a crime is now a “do.” A few of the most elite including Dolce & Gabanna, Sonia Rykiel, and Dior debuted the “sock and sandal” look during NYC Fashion Week 2010, transforming what was once deemed a “faux paux” into a sexy, dervish, coquettish look. Galliano sent his models down in retro lingerie, paired with chunky wedges and iridescent socks, while Rochas belted mini slip dresses paired with Mary Janes and ankle socks. Rochas went for a more French and flirty look, sending her models in fishnet anklets and sling backs. In the words of company CEO Nathalie Rykiel, “Socks are not the sexiest of things but it is a question of attitude- the way she moves, sits, what else she wears.”
Here at CollabSociety we agree. Ladies, no matter what you wear it’s all about self-confidence! So, if you’re contemplating trying this look out, just remember to the winning combination – heels, anklets and attitude! The lingerie works too…

For it, absolutely, I wear anklets all the time and love them! I especially love pastels and white with little fold-down cuffs. Just keep them nice and thin and you can wear them with any shoes or sandals. Love them with flats, too.

I’ve always been a fan of this look, even when it was a supposed “faux paux”. If you’re sexy and have nice legs, why not! Keeps your toes warm too.

I like how they mashed up the clothes and heels. Looks simple and cute.
